Psychological Testing
The Who, Why, and What of Psychological Testing?

Psychological assessments are used for many purposes including determination of current social, emotional, or cognitive functioning. Testing can be administered to determine a specific diagnosis such as ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, mood disorders, etc. The right testing battery can provide diagnostic clarity, reveal nuanced comorbid conditions, or suggest specific appropriate treatment recommendations and next steps for a person that feels stuck in a treatment rut. In forensic or court ordered evaluations it determines parental capacity or aides in determining sensibility during an alleged criminal act or ability to make sensible judgments in their own legal proceedings.
Here at Evolve Psychological Services each assessment includes…
-
a formal thorough background interview
-
an individualized testing battery based on the referral question
-
administration, scoring, and interpretation of all psychological tests given
-
a comprehensively written psychological report with specific recommendations
-
an hour-long feedback session to go review the report and answer all questions
Services can be expanded to incorporate a review of various records, interviews with select collateral contacts, or expanded psychological testing batteries. Other documents that might be requested or required pertaining to the client’s initial question can also be completed and composed by the clinician. These determinations will be made after a transparent conversation with the client is had to ensure the request from the assessor or curiosity of the client is necessary and agreed upon.
Exclusive Insights and Timeline Considerations

Completing testing with a licensed trained psychologist who is actively practicing is an experience that specifically benefits the client. There are specific psychological tests that only clinical psychologists are taught to administer, score, and interpret. Every client can be assured that if a testing referral is accepted by the practice, the professional working with you is qualified to complete the whole process start to finish. Having experience and understanding the current literature plus implications and limitations of each test provides clients with exclusive insights that they might not receive elsewhere. All reports will be completed in a timely fashion and each client will receive frequent updates about ongoing report status. As this can be a long and detailed process it is understandable that it can take a while to complete; therefore, any timeline considerations, deadlines, or due dates should be communicated up front.

Fees, Cost, and Payment Expectations for Psychological Assessments

The national average for psychological assessments can range from $1,000 to $5,000 dollars depending on the urgency, referral question, length of the time required, and complexity of the testing battery and case. Evolve Psychological Services provides comprehensive assessments and will collaborate with the client to meet their situational needs. We want clients to know what they are paying for and take pride in offering fee disclosure for the sake of ethical transparency.
First, there will be a free initial consultation phone call to determine that the practice is able to provide the appropriate services and accommodate the needs of the presenting concern. If all parties wish to proceed then a small fee will be established for the clinical interview which will be collected prior to services rendered. At the end of the interview a unique battery and fee schedule will be designed and reviewed to ensure clients have full transparency of any and all financial obligation. Clients are able to pay a lump sum up front or create a payment schedule to accommodate their budget based upon a direct conversation and their individual needs. However, all fees must be paid in full prior to the report being released to the client.

Payment is preferable if it is sent via Venmo, CashApp, PayPal or certified check.
